Mindset work

Thinking about making some life changes?

If you follow me on Instagram then you probably know I decided to take some time off this past long weekend to recharge, regroup and refocus. Over the past few months I started taking on more than I could handle simply because I didn’t want to let anyone down.

I didn’t know how to say no

I started feeling stuck, anxious, and nervous for no particular reason and I needed to feel grounded again. I was in Minneapolis, Minnesota this weekend for a Chiropractic Seminar and during my 7.5 hour car ride down, I got some much needed down time and I started making lists of things I wish I had time to do. The seminar ended up covering a lot of topics; one in particular that I needed to hear was about Personal Development. I didn’t know this was going to come up during the seminar, its funny how the Universe works! I met a lot of Chiropractors practicing in Canada and the United States who are living their lives exactly the way they have always wanted too and gave me some encouraging words of advice. After the seminar I felt like a huge weight had been lifted and helped give me the extra push I needed to make some changes to bring more things that I enjoy back into my life. When I got back home I grabbed my notebook, pen and some treats to start figuring out what I needed to change and how. There are countless articles and books out there that have writing exercises for making life changes but here are a few I have read in the past; You are a Badass by Jen Sincero, Girl Code by Cara Alwill Leyba, The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and I Am That Girl by Alexis Jones to name a few. I read a lot so if you want a more detailed list feel free to get in touch with me, I am happy to share! Here are a few questions to help you get your writing juices flowing:

  1. What is your purpose in life? How do you want to be remembered?
  2. Where do you want to be in every aspect of your life in 1 year from now? 5 years? 10 years?
  3. What can you change about your current job that you aren’t happy with?
  4. Is your work in line with your passion? If not, what is your passion and how can you turn that into your career?
  5. What drives you? What hobbies do you want to start up?
  6. Who are some people that you look up to and why?
  7. Who are your most important relationships with? What could you do to make it better?
  8. What are some fears you have? What steps can you take to overcome them?
  9. What goals do you still want to accomplish this year?
  10. In your daily to do list, what things can you let go of or delegate to others that doesn’t bring joy into your life?
  11. What are some things you can do for your health and well being daily?
  12. What can you do to help make a difference in your community?
  13. And the most important question… Are you happy with yourself right now? If not, what are some internal things that are getting in the way of your happiness and how can you overcome them?

Podcasts are another awesome tool to use. Currently I am listening to a podcast that a patient had recommended to me called Mindful Mostly by Andrea Collins. I have a small library of my own because to me books are personal investments I make on myself. If there’s any books, podcasts or anything that’s helped you make some changes in your own life, share them with me! Good luck!
